Preferential Sugar Imports Mooted by Ukraine
KIEV - Mar 12/03 - APK -- Ukraine's Minister of Agrarian Policy Serhiy Ryzhuk thinks it possible for Ukraine to introduce a quota for preferential imports of 260,000 metric tons (MT) of raw sugar to cover the deficit in domestic market.
However, it should be done only after the sowing campaign is complete.
"I agree for 260,000 MT of raw, but in May. If we set the quota when the farms are sowing, we will discourage them from growing beet", he said.
