U.S. Mustard Plantings SinkWASHINGTON - Jun 30/09 - SNS -- Planted area of mustard seed is estimated at 53,500 acres, down 26,000 acres from 2008, according to the USDA's preliminary seeded estimates for the year. Mustard seed area for harvest is forecast at 50,500 acres, down 21,000 acres or 29% from the previous year. Acreage of rapeseed planted is estimated at 900 acres, up 700 acres from the record low in 2008, but is still the second lowest on record since estimates began in 1991.
