U.S. Pulse Crop Inventories JumpWASHINGTON - Jun 30/09 - SNS -- Pulse crop inventories were up sharply over last year as of June 1, according to the USDA. Massive increases in the quantity of field peas and chickpeas in all positions more than offset declines in lentil and austrian winter pea inventories. Pulse crops stored in all positions in the United States on June 1, 2009 and the change from June 1, 2008 are: dry edible peas, 3.78 million cwt, up 71%; lentils, 446,000 cwt, down 18%; Austrian winter peas, 33,000 cwt, down 28%; all chickpeas, 491,000 cwt, up 65%; small chickpeas, 117,000 cwt, up 75%; and large chickpeas, 374,000 cwt, up 62%.
