Australia -- New South Wales Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Jun 23/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warning Summary at issue time: Nil For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/weather/nsw Current Weather Situation and Future Developments: A Low near Adelaide is moving slowly east and weakening. Showers and thunderstorms through central parts of New South Wales are associated with a trough extending from this Low. This trough will move gradually eastwards over New South Wales today. A weak high pressure ridge will become established over the state on Thursday and produce fine weather in most locations, however cloud associated with the next Low, which is currently approaching Western Australia, will increase. This cloud is expected to produce rain areas over the west of the state Thursday night, then extend eastwards over New South Wales during Friday, and clear from the west on Saturday. Forecast for Wednesday Early fogs in the east. Fine in the north and west. Scattered showers/rain areas and isolated thunderstorms over the remainder contracting eastwards during the day with snow on the Alps. Light to moderate westerly winds. Forecast for Thursday Isolated showers on the western slopes of the southern ranges, tending scattered in the south and falling as snow on the Alps. Some patchy rain developing in the far west, increasing at night. Morning fogs on the ranges. Fine over the remainder. Light to moderate northwest winds. Forecast for Friday Rain periods and isolated thunderstorms west of the ranges, falling as snow on the Alps and clearing in the far west to a few isolated showers. Isolated showers developing on the eastern side of the ranges later in the day. Northwest to northeast winds, tending south to southwesterly in the west. Forecast for Saturday Isolated showers, tending scattered through central inland parts of the state and clearing from the west. West to southwest winds. --- STAT News Service
