Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 23/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EST Saturday 27 June 2009.
Warning Summary at issue time

Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by
telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A low pressure system just south of Adelaide will drift eastwards and weaken,
passing across Victoria on Wednesday. The low will be situated to the southeast
of Victoria on Thursday. Another low will move across the Bight region on
Thursday but will also weaken as it passes just to the north of Victoria late
Friday. A narrow ridge of high pressure will move over Victoria on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Patchy rain and isolated thunderstorms, mainly through central Victoria
contracting to eastern areas tonight and showers extending from South Australia
into northwest Victoria tonight.
Forecast for Wednesday
Isolated showers, more widespread over the northeast and about the eastern
ranges and falling as snow above 1500metres. Isolated thunderstorms in the
east. Cool with generally light winds.
Forecast for Thursday
Morning fog areas in the north. Isolated showers, mainly on and south of the
ranges, scattered about the coast. Showers falling as snow on the Alps above
1400 metres. Generally a fine over the northern plains. Cool with generally
light winds.
Forecast for Friday
Local morning fog. Isolated showers near the coast contracting to Gippsland.
Patchy rain over the far northwest gradually extending to remaining northern
districts. Cool with winds tending light to moderate northwest to northeasterly.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers about the Gippsland coast mostly clearing. Local fog patches
elsewhere then fine and partly cloudy. Cool with generally light winds.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Wednesday.
