May Egg Output Rises SlightlyWASHINGTON - Jun 22/09 - SNS -- U.S, reveals this USDA update. egg quantityed to 7.60 billion within May 2009, up a bit from the previous year. Production included 6.51 billion table eggs, and 1.09 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.02 billion were broiler-type and 73 million were egg-type. The total number of layers during May 2009 averaged 337 million, down 1% from last year. May egg production per 100 layers was 2,256 eggs, up 1% from May 2008.
