Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 18/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EST Monday 22 June 2009.
Warning Summary at issue time
Frost warning for the Northern Country, North Central, West and South Gippsland
and Northeast forecast districts.
Strong wind warning for Victorian waters between SA-VIC Border and Cape Otway.
Strong wind warning for Victorian waters between Lakes Entrance and 60nm east
of Gabo Island.
Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by
telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A slow moving high pressure system will remain over the Tasman Sea into the
weekend. A cold front will cross the Bight today, weakening as it slides
southeastwards across the State Saturday night. A low pressure system will
develop south of the Bight on Sunday, then drift slowly eastwards, remaining to
the southwest of Victoria on Monday and Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of Friday
Morning fog and frost, then a fine, cool to mild and mostly sunny day with
patchy high cloud developing from the west. Light winds in the east, but
moderate to locally fresh northeast to northerly winds developing elsewhere.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers developing, mainly on and north of the ranges. Cool to mild
with moderate to fresh northerly winds.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers, mainly on and north of the ranges. Cool to mild with moderate
to fresh northerly winds.
Forecast for Monday
Isolated showers mainly in the north and about the ranges contracting
eastwards, but patchy rain developing in the northwest later. Cool to mild with
moderate to locally fresh northeasterly winds.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Friday.
