Australia -- Western Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 8/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

WARNINGS:
Fire weather warning for the Central West and Lower West districts.
Strong wind warnings for coastal waters from the NT Border to Kuri Bay and from
Bremer Bay to Israelite Bay.  

STATE FORECAST
Kimberley, northern Pilbara  and western Gascoyne: Isolated showers and
thunderstorms.
SW Land Division:  Hot to very hot. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in
western parts,  mainly during the afternoons and evenings.  
PERTH AND METROPOLITAN:
Very hot. Chance of a thunderstorm or two this afternoon and again tomorrow
afternoon. NE winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes. Strong squalls possible
with thunderstorms.
The Fire and Emergency Services Authority and CALM advise that a fire weather
warning is current and that fires in the open are not advised.

UV INDEX:    10 [VERY HIGH]  
FIRE DANGER: Coastal Plain: EXTREME    Hills: EXTREME  
FORECAST TEMPERATURES:
Perth:     Max: 41 
Mandurah:  Max: 37 
HEADLINE:    Afternoon thunderstorm possible.            
For Monday:
FORECAST TEMPERATURES:
Perth:     Min: 24    Max: 39 
Mandurah:             Max: 35
HEADLINE:    Afternoon thundery shower, windy.  
MEDIUM RANGE FORECAST FOR PERTH FOR:
Tuesday   :  Cooler humid change.                Min: 21  Max: 31 
Wednesday :  Fine.                               Min: 19  Max: 31 
Thursday  :  Fine.                               Min: 16  Max: 35
TREND FOR  FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY:
Hot ahead of a cool change later in the period. Maximum temperatures: mid 30s
falling to high 20s.
