Hawaiian Papaya Crop Drops in AprilWASHINGTON - Jun 10/-9 - SNS -- Hawaii fresh papaya production is estimated at 2.52 million pounds for April 2009, down 3% from March and 4% lower than April 2008, according to the USDA's latest crop production estimates. Total crop area for April is estimated at 2,280 acres, down 2% from March but 13% above April 2008. Harvested area totaled 1,420 acres, down 3% from the previous month but 8% higher than last year.
