Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 29/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EST Tuesday 2 June 2009.
Warning Summary at issue time

Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by
telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A large high pressure system will pass to the south of Tasmania during the
weekend and then be centred over the Tasman Sea for most of next week. An upper
level trough will develop over inland South Australia during Sunday affecting
southeastern Australia during Monday and Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday
Scattered showers over the southeast, falling as snow above 1500m. Isolated
showers elsewhere in the southeast and about the Otway ranges. Early frost and
fog patches. Cool with light to moderate east to southeast winds.
Forecast for Sunday
Scattered showers in the southeast contracting eastwards with snow above 1700m.
Isolated showers about West Gippsland and the Otway ranges mostly clearing
later. Light patchy rain possible over the far northwest in the evening.
Morning frost and fog patches. A cool day with light to moderate easterly winds.
Forecast for Monday
Patchy rain, mainly on and north of the Divide. Early morning fog and frost
patches. Cool to mild with light to moderate east to northeast winds.
Forecast for Tuesday
Patchy rain contracting to the east with isolated showers elsewhere. Cool with
a light northeasterly wind.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.
