Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 6/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
Nil.
Weather Pattern
A low pressure trough will develop over Victoria today while a cold front south
of the Bight will continue moving eastwards, crossing southern Victoria this
afternoon and tonight.  A high pressure system will develop south of the Bight
by Saturday and then move slowly eastwards. 
Victoria
Friday:    A generally fine warm day with chiefly light to moderate northerly
wind ahead of a cooler south to southwesterly change reaching the southwest in
the afternoon then extending eastwards. Isolated thunderstorms in the northeast
later this afternoon and scattered showers developing in the south following the
change.
Fire Danger: High to very high. 
UV Index: 10 [very high] decreasing to 7 [high] under cloud. 
Saturday:  Showers in the south and east with isolated thunderstorms possible.
Cool to mild in the south. Mild to warm in the north.
Sunday:    Showers in southern and mountain districts becoming isolated in the
west. Fine in the north. Cool to mild in the south. Mild to warm in the north. 
Monday:    Fine apart from isolated morning showers or drizzle near the coast.
Mild to warm.
Forecast for Melbourne
Friday
A fine mostly sunny day with a northerly wind ahead of a cooler south to
southwesterly change this afternoon. A shower or two to follow at night.

Mainly cloudy with showers. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly wind.

Friday:    Northerly wind of 10 to 15 knots ahead of a south to southwesterly
change of similar strength this afternoon. Waves up to one metre.
Saturday:  Southwest to southerly wind of 15 to 20 knots. Waves of about a
metre.
Sunday:    South to southeasterly wind of 10 to 15 knots reaching 20 knots at
times.
Monday:    South to southeasterly wind of 10 to 15 knots reaching 20 knots
during the afternoon.
