Field Peas Nominally StrongerVANCOUVER - May 23/09 - SNS -- Canadian field pea markets finished the week on a nominally stronger note, with asking prices forced higher to accommodate a massive increase in the value of the Canadian dollar. That currency gained over 5% against the U.S. dollar during the week, while grower bids for field peas were unchanged for yellow peas and up sharply for greens. The currency shift combined with limited selling by growers to prevent exporters from absorbing any of the increase in the value of the dollar.
