Egg Output Starts 2003 Down 1%
OTTAWA - Mar 4/03 - SNS -- Canadian egg production started the 2003 calendar year with a slight increase from December, but down almost 1% from year earlier levels.
Preliminary production January were estimated at 49.5 million dozen eggs by Statistics Canada, up from December's revised total of 49.292 million.
During the month, Statistics Canada said poultry meat production reached 90.0 million kilograms, down 1.3% from January 2002.
