Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 4/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings

Weather Pattern
A high pressure system south of the Bight will move steadily eastwards reaching
the Tasman Sea during Thursday. A low pressure trough will develop over Victoria
on Friday then move slowly eastwards on Saturday.    
Victoria
Wednesday: Fine except for isolated showers in Gippsland clearing later in the
day. A warm and mostly sunny day in the north but mild and partly cloudy in the
south. Light to moderate southwest to southerly wind and fresh afternoon coastal
seabreezes.
Fire Danger:      Generally high in the north. Moderate to high in the south.
UV Index: 10 [very high] decreasing to 4 [moderate] under cloud.
Thursday:  Fine apart from morning fog patches in the south. Warm inland, milder
towards the coast.
Friday:    Generally warm. Showers and isolated thunderstorms developing. 
Saturday:  Showers and thunderstorms tending to rain areas. Mild to warm,

Fine and mostly sunny. Southwest to southerly wind freshening this afternoon.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Wednesday: Southwest to southerly wind of 10 to 15 knots reaching 20 knots
during the afternoon then tending southeasterly at 10 to 15 knots tonight. Waves
to 1 metre.
Thursday:  East to northeasterly wind of 10 to 15 knots. Afternoon seabreezes to
around 15 knots. Waves less than a metre.
Friday:    Northeast to northerly wind 10 to 15 knots. Local afternoon and
evening seabreezes to 10 knots.
Saturday:  Variable wind to around 10 knots tending southwest to southerly at
around 15 knots, reaching 20 knots during the afternoon and evening.
