Myanmar's Pulse Exports Slow in MarchVANCOUVER - May 11/09 - SNS -- Pulse exports from Myanmar are off to a strong start this year, with shipments in for the opening quarter of the calendar year up 9.6% from the same period last year and more than double than the recent five year average for those three months at a record 568,558 metric tons (MT). Though total shipments are running ahead of last season, export clearances in March were down 28% from the same month last year at 206,703 MT. The U.S. agricultural attache for the country noted, "Export activity was quiet as most traders were uncertain about Indian demand while some exporters faced losses from depreciation of the U.S. dollar against the Burmese Kyat."
