Strong Finish For LentilsVANCOUVER - May 8/09 - SNS -- International lentil markets finished the week's trading on a strong note, with demand through the end of the third quarter remaining ahead of the ability of processors and exporters to respond. Short term supply problems are compounded by the fact North American growers are more interested in spring seeding than marketing remaining stocks of lentils and other crops on their farms. Markets were also bolstered by Canada's March 1 stocks in all positions estimates, which showed there were only 197,000 metric tons (MT) remaining in Canada.
