South Africa Lowers Winter Grain EstimatesVANCOUVER - May 7/09 - SNS -- This season's winter grain production ended up smaller than initially expected, according to final production estimates from the South African Grain Information Service (SAGIS). Final production estimates take into account "actual deliveries as the basis for the calculation. The figures from the wheat utilization survey to determine on-farm usage and retentions, which was conducted by the Directorate: Agricultural Statistics of the Department of Agriculture, were added to the SAGIS figures to calculate the total size of the crop."
