Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 4/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EST Friday 8 May 2009.
Warning Summary at issue time
Strong wind warning for Victorian waters between Lakes Entrance and 60nm east
of Gabo Island.
Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by
telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A large high pressure system is located over the Bight and extends a ridge
through northern Victoria. The high will sit just to the west of Victoria on
Tuesday before moving back to the central Bight later on Wednesday while a cold
front moves northeast to affect southern Victoria on Wednesday night and
Thursday. The high will still be located just to the west of Victoria on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Isolated showers or drizzle in southern and mountain areas, mainly over
Gippsland. Generally cloudy with moderate southwest to southerly wind.
Forecast for Tuesday
Morning fog patches inland. Isolated showers on the coast and in Gippsland
during the morning, otherwise a fine and cool to mild day. Partly cloudy with
light to moderate southwest to southerly wind.
Forecast for Wednesday
Morning fog patches then a mostly fine, cool to mild day. Isolated showers near
the west coast gradually extending across southwestern and central areas in the
evening. Light to moderate southwesterly winds, tending southerly in the north.
Forecast for Thursday
Isolated showers on and south of the ranges. Cool with moderate to fresh south
to southwest winds extending throughout.
Forecast for Friday
Local early frost in the north. Isolated showers or drizzle in southern and
mountain areas, contracting to the coast by the afternoon. Cool with light to
moderate south to southeasterly winds.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Tuesday.
