Mixed Finish on Birdseed MarkersVANCOUVER - May 1/09 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets registered a mixed performance in light trading activity during the past week. White proso millet and confectionary sunflower seed markets in the United States were nominally unchanged on the week. Oil type sunflower markets, by contrast, were weaker despite strength in soybeans. In Canada, canaryseed markets finished the week on a firmer note, helped by the unwillingness of growers to participate in current markets and a stronger Canadian dollar. Growers are busy with spring seeding and other field work activities, which has reduced their interest in marketing product remaining in their bins.
