Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 4/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Pattern
A high pressure system south of Western Australia will move steadily eastwards
reaching the Tasman Sea during Thursday. A low pressure trough will develop over
Victoria on Friday, moving eastwards on Saturday as a high develops in the
Bight.

Wednesday: Overnight and morning showers and drizzle patches in the south.
Remaining fine in the north. A warm and mostly sunny day inland but milder and
partly cloudy in the south. Light to moderate southerly wind and afternoon
seabreezes.
Fire Danger:      Generally high in the north. Moderate to high in the south.
UV Index: 10 [very high] decreasing to 4 [moderate] under cloud.
Thursday:  Fine apart from morning fog patches in the south. Warm inland, milder
towards the coast.
Friday:    Generally warm. Showers and isolated thunderstorms developing, mainly
in the east.
Saturday:  Showers becoming isolated and contracting south. Mild to warm inland,
cooler near the coast.

Overnight and morning showers and drizzle patches clearing to a fine and mainly
sunny afternoon. Light to moderate southerly winds and afternoon seabreezes.

Wednesday: South to southwesterly wind of about 15 knots easing to 5 to 10 knots
overnight then tending south to southeasterly at around 10 knots during the
morning before increasing to around 15 knots in the afternoon and evening. Waves
below 1 metre.
Thursday:  East to northeasterly wind of 10 to 15 knots. Afternoon seabreezes to
15 knots.
Friday:    Northeast to northerly wind 10 to 15 knots ahead of a late southerly
change around 15 knots.
Saturday:  South to southeast wind of 10 to 15 knots, reaching 20 knots during
the afternoon and evening.
Headline Melbourne: Few showers clearing.
