Canadian Bulk Pea Exports On Record PaceVANCOUVER - May 1/09 - SNS -- Bulk conventional loadings of field peas at Canadian ports established a new seasonal record between August and April, judging from port clearances reported by the Canadian Ports Clearance Association. Clearances at terminals reporting to the association totalled 169,500 metric tons (MT) of field peas at Vancouver and 10,158 MT at Thunder Bay. This compares to field pea clearances of 61,789 MT at Vancouver and 4,855 MT at Thunder Bay during April of 2008. This lifted loadings through the end of April to 1,466,993 MT, up almost 192,000 from the same nine-month period last season and just ahead of the previous record of 1,426,576 MT established during the 2005-06 marketing campaign.
