Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 30/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EST Monday 4 May 2009.
Warning Summary at issue time
Frost warning for the Northeast forecast district.
Strong wind warning for Victorian waters between Port Campbell and Mallacoota.
Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by
telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A high pressure system over New South Wales extends a ridge into the southern
Tasman Sea. A cold front will move across the State on Friday. A large high
pressure system will move over Bight waters on Saturday to extend a ridge into
southeastern Australia, then slowly track eastwards towards Victoria on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday
Isolated showers developing in the southwest this evening. Fine elsewhere.
Cloud increasing from the west. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds
freshening in the west.
Forecast for Friday
Isolated showers developing mainly near and south of the divide and becoming
scattered about the coast. Local early frost in the northeast. A cool day,
mostly cloudy in the south. Mainly moderate northwesterly winds shifting west
to southwesterly from the west during the afternoon.
Forecast for Saturday
Frost patches and the chance of fog inland during the morning. Isolated showers
near the coast, otherwise a fine and cool day with light to moderate
southwesterly winds.
Forecast for Sunday
Morning fog and frost patches inland. Isolated showers near the coast,
otherwise a fine and cool day with light to moderate southwesterly winds.
Forecast for Monday
Morning fog and frost patches, mainly in the northeast. Isolated showers on and
south of the ranges, contracting to the coast in the west at night. A cool day
with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Friday.
