Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 3/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

WARNING SUMMARY
Flood warnings are current for the Flinders River and tributaries, the Thomson
River and tributaries and the Diamantina River. 
A strong wind warning is current for coastal waters between Bowen and Burnett
Heads. 
STATE FORECAST
for Tuesday
Rain areas and local thunder about the central coast. Scattered to isolated
showers and thunderstorms persisting over the far northern tropics. Some high
cloud extending across southern districts with isolated showers developing along
the south coast.  Moderate southeast winds over central and southern parts,
fresh about the central and Capricorn coasts.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
A broad high pressure belt will be a feature in the Tasman Sea for much of the
week extending a firm ridge to queensland south coast. The tropical low off the
central coast is expected to remain slow moving  before weakening from Thursday.
The combination of the low and the ridge will maintain fresh to strong Se winds
and local rain areas over the central and capricorn coasts. The monsoon trough
is expected to remain over the northern tropics for the next few days with
showers and thunderstorms near and north of this trough. Some high cloud from
ex-Tropical Cyclone Graham will spread across southern districts but no
significant rain is expected. Some showers and thunderstorms are likely to
develop over the west of the state on Thursday and Friday near the inland
trough.
