Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 2/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

WARNING SUMMARY
A flood warning is current for the Flinders River and tributaries and the
Thomson River. 
A strong wind warning is current for coastal waters between Cardwell and
Gladstone.
STATE FORECAST
for Monday
Scattered showers and thunderstorms with rain areas over the far northern and
eastern tropics. Some moderate to heavy falls about the central coast area. Fine
elsewhere apart from isolated showers along the remaining east coast. Dry, fresh
and gusty S/SE winds over most southern and central districts. Generally
moderate NW/SW winds over the far northern tropics.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Ridging across south-eastern Australia and the Tasman Sea will maintain SE winds
over most southern and central districts of the state into the latter part of
the week. These winds will produce showers about the southern coast and will
gradually increase humidity levels across remaining inland areas. The monsoon
low off the Whitsunday area will hover in the area until at least Wednesday.
Consequently, rain areas will continue about the central coast and adjacent
areas with some moderate to heavy falls confined mainly to the islands and
coastal parts. Over the remaining far northern and eastern tropics showers and
storms will continue driven by the weak NW to SW monsoon flow circulating about
