Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 2/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A gale warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Wilsons
Promontory. Strong wind warnings are current for coastal waters between Cape
Otway and Wilsons Promontory and for the Gippsland Lakes.  
Weather Pattern
A high pressure system south of Western Australia will move slowly eastwards
over the next few days.  A cold front will move through Bass Strait late Tuesday
before the high reaches the Tasman Sea on Thursday.  
Victoria
Monday:    Cool to mild and mostly cloudy in the south  with isolated showers,
contracting to the coast and Gippsland during the day. Fine in the north and a
mild to warm and mostly sunny day. Light to moderate southwest to southerly
winds, strong to gale force along the coast at first.
Fire Danger: Moderate to high. 
UV Index: 10 [very high] decreasing to 4 [moderate] under cloud.
Tuesday:   Mainly fine but isolated coastal showers and drizzle developing
during the day. Mild to warm.
Wednesday: Fine apart from isolated coastal showers or drizzle at first. Mild to
warm.
Thursday:  Fine apart from morning fog patches in the south. Warm inland. Milder
along the coast.

Monday:    Southwesterly winds of 15 to 20 knots easing to 10 to 15 knots by
morning. Winds tending more southerly during the day and freshening 15 to 20
knots in the afternoon. Waves of 1 metre or less.
Tuesday:   Southwest to southerly winds to 10 knots, increasing to 15 to 20
knots in the afternoon.
Wednesday: Southerly winds of 10 knots and afternoon seabreezes of 15 to 20
knots.
Thursday:  Northeasterly winds of 10 to 15 knots. Afternoon seabreezes to 15
knots.
Headline Melbourne: Becoming fine. 
Headline Victoria:  Cool to mild in the south with isolated showers. Warmer
