Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 22/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time:
Nil.
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site
www.bom.gov.au/weather/nsw
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A slow moving low pressure system lies over the northern Tasman Sea,
while a high to the southeast of Tasmania extends a ridge into New
South Wales. This ridge is currently maintaining fine conditions for
all but the coastal districts, where onshore winds are bringing some
showers, mainly to the northern coastal fringe. A trough, currently
over Western Australia, will reach the far west of New South Wales
late Thursday, with a cold front bringing some rain to the southern
half of the state as it pushes east on Friday. A second front is
expected to move across the region during the weekend, bringing a
significantly cooler airmass and further precipitation to the
southern districts.
Forecast for Thursday
Isolated showers on the north and central coasts and adjacent ranges,
with the showers clearing from the central coasts during the morning.
Some late patchy rain entering the far southwest. Northeast to
southeast winds near the coast, and north to northeast winds inland.
Forecast for Friday
Fine in the northeast. Patchy rain extending from the west, chiefly
in the southern border districts, and reaching the southern coast
late in the day or overnight. The chance of thunderstorms about the
southern inland. Northeast to northwest winds, with a gusty west to
southwest change extending from the west.
Forecast for Saturday
Early showers clearing from the southern and central coasts. Showers
and rain areas about the southern inland, increasing from the west
during the day. Fine in the northern half of the state. West to
northwest winds.
Forecast for Sunday
Showers and rain periods in the southern half of the state, chiefly
near the Victorian border, and clearing from the west later in the
day. The chance of thunderstorms over the southern inland. Fine in
the north. Gusty west to northwest winds, turning southwesterly.
