Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 28/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A strong wind warning is current for all Victorian coastal waters including Port
Phillip Bay and Western Port and for the Gippsland Lakes.   
Weather Pattern
A rather cold and unstable southwest to southerly airflow will persist across
the state during the weekend. A high pressure system will move into the Bight at
the start of next week.   
Victoria
Tonight and Saturday: Showers becoming widespread on and south of the divide
with local hail and thunder developing by morning. Brief snow tomorrow on the
higher alpine peaks. Only isolated showers on the northern plains. Cool to cold
with fresh, squally southwest to southerly winds.
Fire Danger: Moderate to high.
UV Index: 9 [very high] decreasing to 4 [moderate] under cloud.
Sunday:    Showers in the south becoming isolated. Cool to mild. South to
southwest wind slowly easing.
Monday:    Fine apart from isolated coastal showers. Mild in the south, warmer
inland. 
Tuesday:   Isolated showers and drizzle in the south later. Fine otherwise. Mild
to warm.

Tonight and Saturday
Cloudy periods with further showers. The chance of hail and thunder tomorrow. 
Rather cold, squally southwesterly wind.

Tonight and Saturday: West to southwesterly wind of 15 to 20 knots locally  30
knots at times tending west to northwesterly tonight. Wind shifting southwest to
southerly at 20 to 30 knots late tomorrow morning. Stronger squalls in heavy
showers. Waves 1 to 2 metres. A strong wind warning is current.
Sunday:    Southwest to southerly wind of 20 to 25 knots decreasing to 15 to 20
knots.
Monday:    Southwest to southerly wind 10 to 15 knots locally 20 knots in the
afternoon.
Tuesday:   West to southwest wind 10 to 15 knots tending southerly at 15 to 20
knots later.
Headline Melbourne: Showers. Cold wind.
Headline Victoria:  Showers particularly in the south with local hail and
