Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 9/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EST Monday 13 April 2009.

telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A high pressure system is over the Tasman Sea an a weak trough extends through
eastern Victoria. A weak cold front will move through Bass Strait on Friday,
just clipping the coast. The next high will move across Tasmania on Saturday
reaching the Tasman Sea on Sunday. Another trough will approach western
Victoria late Sunday, entering the State on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of Friday
Local early morning fog and cloud in the south. Isolated showers and
thunderstorms over the north and east, mainly during the afternoon and
contracting to the far east by evening. Fine elsewhere apart from isolated
coastal showers developing in the southwest by evening. A mild to warm and
partly cloudy day with generally light to moderate northeast to northwest winds
in the east and south to southwest winds in the west, extending through central
areas.
Maximum Fire Danger: Generally high in the north.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated drizzle near the coast and local early fog in the south clearing.
Partly cloudy with isolated showers developing over the far north late in the
day. Generally mild to warm with light to moderate southeast to northeast winds.
Forecast for Sunday
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly over central and eastern
districts. Mild with light to moderate northeast to southeast winds.
Forecast for Monday
Morning fog patches. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the east.
Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts, but fine over
the northwest. Generally mild with southeast to southerly winds.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Friday.
