Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 6/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EST Friday 10 April 2009.
Warning Summary at issue time
Strong wind warning for Victorian waters between Cape Otway and Wilsons
Promontory.
Gale warning for Victorian waters between Wilsons Promontory and 60nm east of
Gabo Island.
Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by
telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A vigorous and unstable southwesterly airstream will persist over Victoria
tonight as a strong high pressure system remains well to the west over the
Southern Ocean. The high will move to the south of the Bight during Tuesday
before reaching Bass Strait on Wednesday and the Tasman Sea on Thursday. A cold
front will move through southern Victoria and Bass Strait on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Scattered showers in southern and mountain districts. Moderate to fresh south
to southwesterly winds.
Forecast for Tuesday
Scattered showers in the south becoming isolated during the day. Local early
frost in the northeast. Sunny in the north. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh
south to southwest winds, easing in the west.
Maximum Fire Danger: High in the north.
Forecast for Wednesday
Isolated showers in the south, contracting to the coast and clearing during the
afternoon.
Fine and sunny in the north. Cool to mild with light to moderate southerly
winds.
Forecast for Thursday
Local early morning fog and frost, then a fine, mild and mostly sunny day.
Generally light wind tending northerly and afternoon coastal seabreezes.
Forecast for Friday
Early fog patches in Gippsland. Isolated showers developing in southern
districts. Fine and sunny in the north. Moderate northwesterly winds shifting
southwesterly later.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Tuesday.
