Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 25/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Pattern
A low pressure trough over Victoria will move eastwards on Thursday as a cold
front approaches from the west. The front will move across Victoria later
Thursday and Thursday night with another front to follow overnight Friday,
maintaining a southwesterly flow on Saturday.     
Victoria
Wednesday: Fine except for early morning fog and drizzle in the south and
isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, mostly about the
ranges. A generally warm and humid day with light to moderate northeast to
southeast winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.
Fire danger: Generally moderate to high.
UV Index: 9 [very high] decreasing to 4 [moderate] under cloud.
Thursday:  Warm with showers and thunderstorms developing ahead of a cooler
southwesterly change extending from the west.
Friday:    Rain in the east clearing. Showers to follow, mainly on and south of
the ranges. Cool to mild.
Saturday:  Scattered showers near and south of the ranges. Cool to mild. Windy
in the south.
Forecast for Melbourne
Wednesday
Early morning fog patches. A fine mostly sunny day with light wind and
seabreezes.

Trend for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
Showers clearing. Generally mild.
Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Wednesday: Variable wind to 10 knots and afternoon seabreezes to 15 knots. Waves
generally half a metre.
Thursday:  Northerly wind increasing to 15 to 20 knots during the morning ahead
of a southwesterly change at similar strength during the afternoon.
Friday:    West to southwesterly wind of 15 to 20 knots increasing to 20 to 30
knots during the morning.
Saturday:  Southwesterly wind of 20 to 30 knots.
Headline Melbourne: Fine.
