Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 20/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A slow-moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge across
New South Wales. An upper level trough will contract to the far northeast on
Saturday with showers and isolated afternoon thunderstorms possible there. On
Sunday a low pressure trough is expected to move over the southwest of the state
as the high moves south and the ridge weakens, with isolated light showers
developing in the far south of the state. Isolated coastal showers in north
eastern coastal parts are set to continue until Monday under the influence of
southeast winds.  A tropical low in the Coral Sea is deepening over the next few
days and may develop into a tropical cyclone.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers about the northern half of the coast and adjacent east ranges,
clearing from the south, with possible afternoon thunderstorms about the eastern
Northern Tablelands. Fine elsewhere. Early fog patches about the southern and
central coast and ranges. Southeast to northeast winds in the east and
northeast. Variable winds over the remainder .
Fire danger: Very High: Riverina
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers about the northern coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated showers
developing in the far south. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds, ahead
of a southwest change in the southwest.
Forecast for Monday
Isolated showers on the north coast. The chance of showers on the southern half
of the coast, with the possibility of  afternoon thunderstorms developing on
higher parts.  Northeast to southeast winds in the east. Northwest to southwest
winds in the west.
Forecast for Tuesday
Fine throughout.  North to northeast winds in the northeast and southeast to
southwest winds in the southwest
