Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 19/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time:
Nil.
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site
www.bom.gov.au/weather/nsw
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A slow-moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge across
New South Wales. This pattern is currently maintaining fine and stable weather
conditions in most districts today, although an onshore airstream will bring
showers to the northern coast during the next few days. An upper-level feature
passing over the region tomorrow may generate sufficient instability for
thunderstorms to develop in parts of the northeast, although they are unlikely
to be widespread. On Sunday a low pressure trough is expected to move over the
west of the state as the ridge weakens, with a few showers developing along the
southern border.
Forecast for Friday
Scattered showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of
afternoon thunderstorms about parts of the Central Tablelands, upper Hunter and
North West Slopes. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.
Fire danger: Very High in the Riverina.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers about the northern half of the coast and adjacent east ranges,
clearing from the south. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers about the northern coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated showers
developing along the southern border districts. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to
northeast winds, ahead of a southwest change in the west.
Forecast for Monday
Isolated showers in the northeast, and the chance of showers or thunderstorms in
the southeast, chiefly afternoon. Northeast to southeast winds in the east.
Northwest to southwest winds in the west.
