No Changes in Indian PolicyNEW DELHI - Mar 18/09 - SNS -- There will be no changes in current policies affecting pulse trade to India for at least anther six months under decisions announced by the country's government. Pulses will be allowed to enter the country duty-free until March 31, 2010 and the ban on exports of all classes of pulses except kabuli chickpeas as also been extended to next year. India will also continue to subsidize the use of imported pulses by the Public Distribution System (PDS), but this will only be extended for another six months, until the end of September. Under that scheme, the government provided one kilogram of pulses per month per family through the PDS incurring a subsidy of Rs. 10 per kilogram.
