Australia -- Victoria Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Feb 24/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warnings Nil. Weather Pattern A low pressure trough over Victoria will persist until midweek. A cold front will develop south of the Bight on Wednesday and move into Victoria later Thursday then a second cold front will develop south of South Australia on Friday and approach western Victoria later. Victoria Tuesday: Fine except for morning fog and drizzle patches in the south and isolated showers and thunderstorms near and south of the ranges, mainly afternoon and evening. A warm and mostly sunny day inland with light winds. Mild to warm and partly cloudy near the coast with moderate southerly winds. Fire Danger: Moderate to high. UV Index: 11 [extreme] decreasing to 7 [high] under cloud. Wednesday: Fine apart from morning fogs in the south and isolated showers and thunderstorms about the ranges. Sultry. Thursday: Warm to hot ahead of cool change. Rain areas and isolated thunderstorms extending from the west. Friday: Rain in the east clearing. Showers to follow, mainly on and south of the ranges. Cool to mild. Forecast for Melbourne Tuesday Morning cloud and fog patches clearing to a mainly sunny afternoon with light wind tending moderate southerly. A shower or two possible during the day.
