Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 10/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EDT Saturday 14 March 2009.
Warning Summary at issue time
Strong wind warning for Victorian waters between SA-VIC Border and Mallacoota.

telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A high pressure system near southern Tasmania is drifting slowly eastwards and
will be centred over the Tasman Sea on Wednesday and Thursday. A low pressure
trough will enter southwest Victoria late Thursday before weakening. A cold
front will then move from the Bight towards Victoria late Friday, crossing the
State on Saturday and introducing a colder west to southwesterly airflow.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Isolated showers and thunderstorms inland, more widespread about the ranges.
Rain areas over the northwest.
Forecast for Wednesday
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly over western districts.
Generally warm and humid with a moderate to locally fresh east to northeasterly
wind and afternoon coastal sea breezes.
Maximum Fire Danger: Generally high
Forecast for Thursday
Isolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and evening.
Warm and partly cloudy with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds. A
southwest change over southwest Victoria late in the day.
Forecast for Friday
Isolated showers and thunderstorms possible, mainly in the east during the
afternoon and evening. Warm and partly cloudy with light northerly winds and
afternoon coastal sea breezes.
Forecast for Saturday
Rain areas extending from the west during the morning and clearing eastern
parts at night. Isolated showers to follow near and south of the ranges,
tending more widespread near the coast. Fresh north to northwesterly winds
turning fresh and gusty west to southwesterly from the west. Becoming cooler
with the change.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Wednesday.
