Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 22/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Cape
Otway.
Weather Pattern
A low pressure trough extending from the interior of the continent southwards
into Victoria is expected to weaken slightly on Sunday then persist through to
midweek. A high pressure ridge to the south of Victoria will temporarily weaken
on Monday allowing a weak cold front to pass south of the State Monday night.  
Victoria
Sunday:    Morning fogs. Drizzle patches on and south of the ranges contracting
to the coast and the far east during the afternoon. Another humid, mild to warm
and mostly cloudy day with generally light to moderate northeast to southeast
winds.
Fire Danger: Locally high in grassland.
UV Index: 11 [extreme] decreasing to 4 [moderate] under cloud.
Monday:    Local morning fog. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms
mainly about the ranges. Sultry.
Tuesday:   Afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the east. Morning fogs in the
south. Generally warm.
Wednesday: Morning fogs in the south otherwise fine. Warm and humid.
Forecast for Melbourne
Sunday
Morning fog patches and low cloud. Humid. A fine afternoon with sunny breaks.
Light to moderate easterly winds and an afternoon seabreeze.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Sunday:    East to southeasterly wind at 10 to 15 knots. Afternoon seabreezes to
20 knots. Waves to around 1 metre.
Monday:    Northeast to northerly winds of 10 to 15 knots shifting southerly at
15 knots later.  
Tuesday:   Southerly wind 10 to 15 knots, locally reaching 20 knots during the
afternoon and evening.
Wednesday: Variable wind to 10 knots and afternoon seabreezes to 15 knots. 
Headline Melbourne: Becoming fine. Humid.
Headline Victoria:  Morning fogs. Drizzle patches in the south mostly clearing.
