Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 8/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EDT Thursday 12 March 2009.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near Tasmania today will extend a ridge to the Tasman
Sea today. The high will reach the Tasman Sea on Wednesday and then remain slow
moving. An upper level trough will drift across South Australia today before
weakening over western New South Wales during the week.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Fine apart from the chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the north
and east during the afternoon and evening. Mild in the south grading to warm in
the north. Light to moderate east to southeasterly wind and afternoon coastal
sea breezes.
Maximum Fire Danger: High to very high in the north.
Forecast for Tuesday
Isolated showers extending from the north. Isolated thunderstorms possible
during the afternoon and evening, mainly in the west. Mild to warm and partly
cloudy with a generally moderate to fresh east to southeasterly wind and
afternoon coastal sea breezes.
Forecast for Wednesday
Isolated showers. Isolated thunderstorms possible during the afternoon and
evening, mainly on and north of the ranges. Warm and partly cloudy with a light
to moderate east to northeasterly wind and afternoon coastal sea breezes.
Forecast for Thursday
Isolated showers. Isolated thunderstorms possible during the afternoon and
evening. Warm and partly cloudy with a light to moderate north to northeasterly
wind and afternoon coastal sea breezes.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.
