Australia -- Victoria Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Feb 21/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warnings A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Wilsons Promontory. Weather Pattern A low pressure trough extends from the interior of the continent southwards into Victoria. This trough is expected to move eastwards and weaken during the weekend, although a weak trough should persist over northern Victoria. A high pressure ridge will develop south of the State during the weekend then a weakening cold front will approach from the southwest on Monday and move through Bass Strait by early Tuesday. Victoria Saturday: Rain areas in the far east easing during the morning but showers and drizzle to follow, mainly in the south and about the ranges and becoming isolated in the west. Morning fogs. A mild to warm and humid day with a light to moderate southeast to southwesterly wind. Fire Danger: Generally high in grassland. UV Index: 12 [extreme] decreasing to 4 [moderate] under cloud. Sunday: Isolated showers and drizzle in the south and east. Local morning fog. Mild to warm and humid. Monday: Local early fog. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Warm to hot.
