U.S. Egg Output Rises SlightlyWASHINGTON - Feb 27/09 - SNS -- U.S, judging from today's USDA sector report. egg totalled 7.67 billion throughout January 2009, up somewhat from the previous year. Production included 6.59 billion table eggs, and 1.08 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.00 billion were broiler-type and 72 million were egg-type. The total number of layers during January 2009 averaged 341 million, down 1% from last year. January egg production per 100 layers was 2,249 eggs, up 1% from January 2008.
