Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 14/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EDT Wednesday 18 February 2009.
Warning Summary at issue time
Strong wind warning is current for Western Port.
Strong wind warning is current for Port Phillip.

telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A high pressure system south of the Bight will move steadily eastwards and
should move to the south of Tasmania Sunday night. The high should reach the
Tasman Sea on Monday before remaining almost stationary until at least
mid-week. An upper low pressure system over northern New South Wales will move
slowly southeastwards over the next few days.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday
Fine apart from isolated showers in east Gippsland and areas of smoke haze.
Mild to warm with generally light winds inland and sea breezes about the coast.
Forecast for Sunday
Fine apart from isolated showers in Gippsland and areas of smoke haze. Mild to
warm with generally light to moderate southeast winds, freshening about the
coast with afternoon sea breezes.
Maximum Fire Danger: Moderate to High, reaching Very High in the northwest.
Forecast for Monday
Fine apart from isolated showers in Gippsland and over the far northeast and
areas of smoke haze. Warm inland with light to moderate northeast to southeast
winds, but milder near the coast with fresh afternoon seabreezes.
Forecast for Tuesday
Fine apart from isolated showers in the east, contracting eastwards, and areas
of smoke haze. Mild to warm with generally light to moderate east to southeast
winds, freshening during the afternoon with coastal sea breezes.
Forecast for Wednesday
Scattered showers in the east with isolated showers extending to central
districts during the afternoon. Areas of smoke haze. Fine elsewhere. Mild to
warm with light to moderate northeast to southeast winds.
