Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 12/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary:
Strong Wind Warning for coastal waters. Refer to www.bom.gov.au for latest
warnings and RFS Total Fire Ban information.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A high pressure system southwest of Tasmania extends a ridge across New South
Wales, delivering cool southerly winds and showers to the coast and ranges.
During Friday the high will move to the southern Tasman Sea, with moist onshore
winds interacting with an upper-level trough to produce areas of rain over
northeastern NSW. On Saturday the upper trough is expected to stall as it
reaches eastern parts, with showers and generally mild temperatures expected to
continue in the east.
Forecast for Friday
Fine in the southwest. Showers elsewhere, mainly in the northeast, with rain
periods developing in the evening about the northeast inland. Possible
thunderstorms over the northern inland. Moderate to fresh east to southeast
winds.
Fire danger: Very High in the Riverina and Upper Western.
Forecast for Saturday
Fine in the southwest. Showers or rain areas elsewhere, with moderate to heavy
falls likely in the northeast corner. Possible thunderstorms over the northern
inland. Easterly winds.
Forecast for Sunday
Scattered showers along the coast and adjacent ranges, with early rain in the
northeast easing. Isolated showers on the western slopes of the ranges. Fine
elsewhere. East to southeast winds.
Forecast for Monday
Dry in the southwest. Isolated showers elsewhere, tending scattered about the
coast and adjacent ranges. Possible thunderstorms over the northern and central
inland. Easterly winds.
