Australia -- New South Wales Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Feb 12/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Current Weather Situation and Future Developments: A high pressure system southwest of Tasmania extends a ridge across New South Wales, delivering cool southerly winds and showers to the coast and ranges. During Friday the high will move to the southern Tasman Sea, with moist onshore winds interacting with an upper-level trough to produce areas of rain over northeastern NSW. On Saturday the upper trough is expected to stall as it reaches eastern parts, with showers and generally mild temperatures expected to continue in the east. Forecast for Friday Fine in the southwest. Showers elsewhere, mainly in the northeast, with rain periods developing in the evening about the northeast inland. Possible thunderstorms over the northern inland. Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds. Fire danger: Very High in the Riverina and Upper Western. Forecast for Saturday Fine in the southwest. Showers or rain areas elsewhere, with moderate to heavy falls likely in the northeast corner. Possible thunderstorms over the northern inland. Easterly winds.
