Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 9/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EDT Friday 13 February 2009.
Warning Summary at issue time
Fire weather warning for Northern Country and North Central forecast districts.
Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by
telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A southwest to southerly airflow will persist over Victoria for several days as
a large high pressure system well south of Western Australia drifts slowly
eastwards and a series of weak cold fronts cross Tasmania. The high will be
located east of Tasmania by Friday night.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Isolated light showers in East Gippsland. Areas of bushfire smoke in central
and eastern districts. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwest to
southerly winds.
Forecast for Tuesday
Isolated showers on and south of the ranges. Dry in the north. Cool to mild
with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.
Maximum Fire Danger: Very high to extreme in the north.
Forecast for Wednesday
Isolated showers in the south, more widespread over Gippsland. Cool to mild
with moderate to fresh southerly winds.
Forecast for Thursday
Isolated showers in the south, mainly about the coast and more widespread at
first over Gippsland. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh south to southeast
winds.
Forecast for Friday
Isolated showers in Gippsland. Mild to warm with moderate east to southeasterly
winds.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Tuesday.
