Lentil Markets More Volatile

VANCOUVER - Feb 8/09 - SNS -- North American lentil markets were little changed at the inter-dealer level by week's end, but remain unusually volatile at the grower level in western Canada.

The revelation that the quantity of lentils in all positions helped explain the volatility, especially for red lentils.

Movement of that color class has been extremely good so far this marketing year, with the result a larger proportion of green lentils are still on hand in Canada than was the case at this time last year.
