Birdseeds Hold Steady
VANCOUVER - Feb 8/09 - SNS -- Canadian birdseed ingredient markets were unaffected by last week's stock in all positions estimates for canary and sunflower seed.
Statistics Canada says there were 20,000 metric tons (MT) of canaryseed on hand as of December 31, up 6,000 from the previous year, but down from 2006.
Interestingly, stocks on farms rose, while commercial inventories declined, suggesting processors are working hard to keep grower purchases tightly aligned with shipping needs.
