New Zealand Livestock and Wool Market SummaryWASHINGTON - Feb 19/03 - STAT -- The latest weekly summary of New Zealand's beef, lamb and wool markets was released by the USDA today. Discussing beef markets, the USDA reports Beef: U.S. imported beef prices continued to weaken early week but managed to regain opening levels by week's end, as trader activity picked up. This does not appear under- pinned by any lift in consumption. In New Zealand, dry conditions over much of the country have boosted production, with the cow kill in particular, picking up earlier than usual.
