Weekly Canadian Crush Little ChangedWINNIPEG - Jan 30/09 -- STAT -- The Canadian Oilseed Processors Association (COPA) reports weekly crush in that country totalled 81,847 metric tons (MT) of canola and 23,505 of soybeans during the week ending December 17. The numbers, as reported to the association by member firms, show canola crush dropped 1.6%, for a second week over week decline. Soybean crush rose 3.5%, for a second week over week increase. Crush so far during the 2008-09 marketing year totals 2,020,796 MT of canola, up about 28,000 MT from the 1,992,566 MT crushed by the same time last season. Soybeans crush so far totals 637,374 MT, down about 97,000 MT from the 734,001 MT crushed during the same period last season. Crush capacity utilization for the week was 92.2% for canola and 93.8% so far this season. Soybean crush capacity utilization was 52.5% for the week and 58.6% so far this season.
