Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 30/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary:
A Strong Wind Warning for coastal waters south of Seal Rocks. A Fire Weather
Warning for the Lower Western, South West Slopes and Riverina districts. Minor
Flood Warning for the Paroo River. Refer to www.bom.gov.au for latest warnings
and Rural Fire Service Total Fire Ban information.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will extend a ridge over New South
Wales until Monday, with hot to very hot weather continuing throughout inland
parts of the state. The far north coast and ranges will have isolated shower
activity in an onshore stream, but the remainder of the state will remain
generally dry. A weak trough is forecast to move into the south of the state
Sunday/Monday, and this may produce isolated showers on the far southern ranges
and coast and adjacent inland. On the coast, daytime temperatures will be
tempered by sea breezes.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers in the northeast. Fine elsewhere. Hot to very hot inland. North
to northeast winds.
Fire danger: Very High to Extreme in Lower Western, South West Slopes and
Riverina. Very High in Central West Slopes and Plains and Southern Tablelands.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges and possibly in the far
southeast later. Fine elsewhere. Hot to very hot inland. Northeast to northwest
winds, turning southeasterly in the southwest.
Forecast for Monday
Scattered showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of an
afternoon shower or thunderstorm in the far southeast. Fine remainder. Hot to
very hot inland. Northeast winds turning southerly in the southwest
Forecast for Tuesday
Isolated showers and thunderstorms in most eastern districts, particularly the
southeast. Fine in the west. Hot inland. Northeast winds tending southerly in
the west and south coast.
