WASHINGTON - Jan 29/09 - SNS -- Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Up 3% from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 4.26 Billion Pounds
Peanut stocks commercial storage on December 31, 2008 quantityed to 4.26 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, versus 3.20 billion pounds a year ago, judging from the current USDA update on the sector.
This total includes 3.59 billion pounds of actual farmer stock.
Shelled peanuts on hand totalled 614 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totalled 54.1 million pounds.
Shelled peanut stocks totalled 462 million pounds of which 438 million pounds were edible grades and 23.8 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 94.9 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 314 million pounds of Runners, and 29.0 million pounds of Spanish.
