Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 14/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Pattern
A ridge of high pressure south of Victoria will weaken as a low pressure trough
over eastern Victoria deepens during today and Sunday. The trough will move
eastwards as a cold front moves across Tasmania on Sunday night. A high pressure
system will develop well south of the Bight on Monday then move slowly
eastwards.
Victoria
Saturday:  Mainly fine day. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far east
during this afternoon and evening. Areas of smoke haze in the east. Areas of
cloud about the coasts and increasing from the west during the day with patchy
rain to follow in the west later. A warm to hot day inland with mainly light
wind, but milder towards the coast with moderate afternoon and evening
seabreezes. 
Fire Danger: High to very high in the north. Moderate to high in the south.
UV Index: 12 [extreme] decreasing 8 [high] under cloud
Sunday:    Patchy rain gradually extending throughout. Isolated thunderstorms in
the east.  Becoming cooler with a freshening wind.
Monday:    Early rain in the far east. Showers in the south gradually becoming
isolated. Cool to mild.
Tuesday:   Fine in the north. Isolated showers and drizzle in the south mainly
coastal. Mild to warm.
Forecast for Melbourne
Saturday
Fine and becoming sunny during the afternoon before high cloud increasing later.
Light to moderate south to southeasterly wind.

Cloudy with a little rain at times. Increasing southerly wind.    Min 19    Max
Monday
A few showers, mainly morning.              Min 15    Max 21
Tuesday
Morning drizzle or showers.                 Min 14    Max 23

Generally fine and becoming warmer.
Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Saturday:  Southeast to southerly wind to around 10 knots and afternoon
seabreezes locally reaching 20 knots. Waves to half a metre locally reaching 1
metre during the afternoon and evening.
Sunday:    South to southeasterly wind to 10 knots tending southerly at 15 to 20
knots later in the day. Waves to half a metre increasing to 1 metre later.
Monday:    Southerly wind 15 to 25 knots.
Tuesday:   East to southeast wind easing 10 to 15 knots, locally 20 knots during
the afternoon and evening. 
Headline Melbourne: Fine.  
Headline Victoria:  Mainly fine. Thunderstorms in the far east, late rain in the
