Poultry Meat Stocks Slip
WASHINGTON - Jan 2 09 - SNS -- Total frozen poultry supplies at the end of December were down 1% from the previous month, and 16% above last year, according to the USDA's latest report on agricultural products in cold storage.
At 764 million pounds, total stocks of chicken were down almost 48 million pounds from the previous month, and up 3% from last year. Frozen egg stocks were up 7% on the month at 22.8 million pounds.
At 398 million pounds, total pounds of turkey in freezers were down 1% from last month and up roughly 154 million pounds from last year.
